Overview

A popular, non-operatic composer, Martucci wrote about 85 works during his life which bear opus numbers: this, the Konzert - Fantasie über "La forza del destino", is opus number 1. Written when he was a student at the Reale Collegio di S Pietro a Majella, Naples, the fantasie demonstrates the raw compositional talent of the young composer, in this reinterpretation of themes from Verdis opera, La forza del destino. The resulting piano work is brilliant, lively and captivating, full of virtuosity.
